When V8 Supercars rivals Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes went head-to-head in Sydney, the competition took an unexpected and highly entertaining turn. As part of the You vs TeamVodafone campaign, fans were invited to compete against the racing stars in a series of playful challenges, culminating in the Giant Rubber Duck Race at Darling Harbour.
Held across a 200-metre obstacle course on the water, the event saw Whincup and Lowndes race in three-metre-tall inflatable rubber ducks, competing against fans in a light-hearted showdown that drew crowds and media attention alike. The activation formed part of a broader campaign that included tanks, lawnmowers, beach balls and giant penguin suits, all designed to engage audiences and build excitement around the V8 Supercars Championship and the Sydney Telstra 500.
To bring the concept to life, we produced a series of custom inflatable rubber ducks engineered specifically for water-based use. Reinforced seams, stabilised flotation and durable construction ensured the inflatables could handle live racing conditions while maintaining safety and performance. Bold Vodafone branding across the ducks delivered strong visual presence for spectators and broadcast coverage.
Set against the iconic Darling Harbour backdrop, the inflatable ducks transformed a simple race into a memorable spectacle. Playful, competitive and highly photogenic, the activation demonstrated how custom inflatable event displays can drive engagement, create media buzz and bring brand campaigns to life in unforgettable ways.
